A chain waste is the traditional 'pull the plug out' bath waste. The plug simply fills the hole in the waste stopping the water from emptying and is connected to the overflow via a chain meaning you can just pull on the chain to remove the plug to empty the bath. This is beneficial for a long lasting bath waste as there are no working parts.
